Our lab concentrates on doing cutting-edge research at the interfaces of materials, chemistry, biology, medicine, and engineering, with the ultimate goal of providing better and safer solutions for disease diagnosis and therapy. Specifically, we take advantage of the design capability of biomolecules (e.g. nucleic acids, peptides) to develop programmable materials, devices, biomimetic systems of diverse functions serving such purposes. For instance, we program the self-assembly of nucleic acids and/or peptides to make delicate structures across multiple dimensions. These structures may be utilized as templates to aid the assembly of guest molecules, materials, or living organisms to form biomedically useful entities.
